For
many, the internet poses a certain uneasiness when
dealing with online payments.
Where is my information going? Who is looking at it? Is
my information secure?
At RedrumMedia.com we
want you to feel at ease when dealing with online
transactions; therefore, all of your critical
information is processed over a secure webserver using a
256-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
What is
256-bit?
256-bit is a key length. When your information is
transferred from your internet browser to our webserver,
the messages are scrambled and the key is needed to
decipher this SSL commuincation. In order to decipher
this message, one needs a decoding key. In this
instance, the deciphering key is 256-bits or 2256
characters, which can also be shown as 1.1579 x 1077.
In short, the key is extremely long. The
chances of cracking 256-bit encryption is
computationally unfeasible. In order to utilize this
256-bit encryption, a compatible browser is required
such as
Mozilla FireFox. Internet Explorer currently only
supports 128-bit encryption, that we also support.
In recent news
headlines, many large internet databases from many
popular merchants have been compromised and consumer's
information stolen. At Redrum Media, we do not store or
view your credit card information. While this may be a
convenience to have this type of information stored and
filled in later automatically, to make your checkout
more timely, we do not believe this convenience
outweighs the risk. So, when you checkout through us,
your credit card information is passed over a secure
gateway to our credit card processor. Your information
is not viewed by a human at any time. It is simply
passed between computers in encrypted form, and a "yes"
or "no" response is passed back to our web server that
the transaction was successful.
When you shop with us,
or any other online merchant, be sure to look for the
following signs to ensure your information is being
processed over a secure server:
